In reality there is much more to the system, just like an iceberg. The sizing of the equipment must be selected with a Manual J load calculation and duct system must be designed according to Manual D. Very few HVAC contractors actually take the time to do this unlike our technicians. Most of them just make a guess by square footage of the home which with energy prices why would you want to waste your money?

Imagine shopping for an iceberg... Where would you begin? There is so much of this massive object that is unforeseen. Now apply that to your heating and air conditioning system what are you looking for? Not only are you ignorant to how it should function, you are ignorant to the mechanics of the system. Let's face it, you only see a small part of the system – the thermostat, the air conditioner and maybe the furnace.

Many people feel the need to comparison shop and compare complex machinery in such a fashion that doesn't allow the true nature of the system to be unveiled.

Did you know?

The ducts should be sealed with mastic. Most contractors use duct tape that wears out. The duct system should be made of a quality product, preferably with an anti-microbial agent.

Most contractors use the cheap ducts that allow mold to grow. The refrigerant should be charged with a Superheat and Sub cooling measurement. Most contractors treat your HVAC like a beer can, if it feels cold it's good enough, and if it's warm it is no good. That's not good enough.

Installers should be highly trained, clean cut and courteous, using runners and protecting your property as we certified BPI technicians are. Most HVAC installers leave a mess behind for you to clean up, that is never acceptable, let's remember our manners, it is a privilege to be in your home.

The company should be licensed, bonded and insured as we are! If an uninsured company's employee has an accident on your property, you are liable. The quality of the equipment and the integrity and references of the sales person also need to be considered.
